Instead of the regular blog format, I decided to share a few healthful recipes you might want to prepare for your feathered friend. Anything we can do to enrich our birds' diets will definitely aid in improving their health and well being. These are relatively simple and easy to prepare....all you will need is a small amount of time and love to create these very tasty dishes.
YUMMY MUFFINS
2 cups canned Pumpkin
2 cup Cream of Wheat
1 cup Applesauce
1 Egg
1 tsp. Baking Powder
2 tbs. Cinnamon
1/4 cup Raisins
1/4 cup Mixed Dried Fruit
1/4 cup Sugar
2 tsp. Sesame Seeds
1 tsp. Olive Oil
Apple Juice as needed
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees... mix all ingredients together adding more applesauce if too dry (add more oatmeal if too moist). Pour into a greased muffin pan and bake 20-30 minutes or until done.
Since Blueberries are in season, make sure you offer them to your bird and possibly treat them to these wonderful summer waffles:
BLUEBERRY BANANA WAFFLES
2 cups Flour
1 tbs. Sugar
3 tsp. Baking Powder
3 large Eggs
1 1/2 cups Milk
1/2 cup Olive Oil
1 cup mashed ripe Bananas
1/2 cup fresh Blueberries
Pre-heat waffle iron...in large bowl combine flour, sugar & baking powder...in medium bowl beat eggs with mixer until foamy...add milk, oil and bananas...pour into dry ingredients and fold in berries. (make several batches...freeze and pop into toaster!)
These might be a good supplement for you to have on hand during this busy summer season...less work for you and more happy tummies for your babes.
Stay safe and cool 'til next month
