A parrot can live his whole life with its wings clipped. Insulation isn’t affected……the only issue I find
valid is that a flighted bird gets more exercise than one who is clipped. Here are some opinions that
might help you to decide to clip or not.

 

• A flighted parrot can soar through an open window or door…..

• A flighted bird can fly into a window, mirror or ceiling fan or even a wall…

• A clipped parrot is easier to handle…..

• A bird is meant to fly ….that is why it has wings and feathers, hollow bones and a muscular frame….

• It is believed that breathing and flight are directly related and that a bird that is allowed to fly 
  has a stronger respiratory system….

• A flighted bird will be able to get into dangerous items in the home…..toxic metals, the toilet
  bowl, and a hot stove…..many a Thanksgiving we here at The Bird Shoppe have had to instruct
  an owner how to get turkey gravy off their bird’s feathers….

• Proper wing clips are usually done by a groomer…..bad wing clips can cause picking and injuries due to falling…..

​ALL OF OUR BABIES MUST TAKE THEIR FIRST FLIGHT BEFORE WE GIVE THEM A BABY TRIM. THIS ALLOWS THEM TO PROPEL THEMSELVES FORWARD AND EXPERIENCE FLIGHT…..
 

REMEMBER….a bird that is properly clipped can STILL FLY, but is unable to gain altitude and speed…..It is up to you
